Forthcoming Elections
This year local elections for Ipswich Borough Council will take place across all 16 wards on Thursday May 5th. Each ward has three borough councillors who are involved in making decisions on how money is spent across the town. Once elected, each councillor works for four years, then he or she must stand for re-election.
Ipswich Green Party will be contesting five of the sixteen wards; an improvement on last year reflecting the steadily growing party. If you would like to vote Green but there is not a candidate in your ward then we would like to hear from you!
Also, on May 5th each voter will be asked whether they wish to change the voting system in the first UK wide referendum for 36 years. We are advising Ipswich Green Party members and supporters to vote yes in the referendum as a small step towards a fully reresentative proprtional voting system.
