About Us
The Green Party isn't just another political party. Green politics is a
new and radical kind of politics guided by these core principles.
People may think that the Green Party is only about the environment. Think again! We have established policies on every important issue, inlcuding agriculture, economy, housing, peace and defence, tourism and transport for example. We call this our Policies for a Sustainable Society and it is available in full, online, all of the time.
We are unique compared to the three main political parties:
- Our members are motivated by respect for the planet, it's creatures and all humans. We understand that we are all connected and dependent on each other. Therefore, we have little self-interest. Money does not motivate us.
- We are the only party to fight for economic localisation, a cure for harmful globalisation, so deeply embued in mainstream politics that it is rarely discussed.
- We are the only party to oppose airport development.
- We have a passion for clean, renewable energy. Coal and nuclear have no place in our future energy system.
- We favour transport by walking, cycling, buses and trains. We will not design our communities around cars and planes.
