A new scheme is to start in Ipswich which allows people to swap products and
services without money chnaging hands.
The Local Exchange Trading System (LETS) has been
started by the Ipswich Green Party and hopes the scheme
will offer all kinds of skills topeople in the town.
A meeting was held at the Citizens Advice Bureau and
a commitee was formed for the new group.
Amy Drayson of the Ipswich Green Party said "We wanted
to explain an idea to people to see how much interest
it generated. "more than 20 people turned up for the
meeting and we have had lots of people contact us to
show interest. "People have expressed interest in exchanging
services such as essay correction, tarot card reading,
cooking lessons as well as swapping vegetables and
plants".
Those who offer services or products will gain credit
in the scheme and canthen use them to gain items listed
by other people.
A newsletter will be distributed around homes in Ipswich
and a website set up where people can join the scheme.
Anyone interested in joining can also contact Jason
White on 01473 437253.
